FEC Approves Completion of Oyo-Ogbomosho Road

The Federal Executive Council has approved the Revised Estimated Total Cost (RETC) for the completion of the on-going  Oyo-Ogbomoso Road. The decision of the Council was announced in a tweet by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare.

The road which was awarded in February 2001 by  the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo was supposed to be completed in 2004

The project was divided into three sections. Section I, which is approximately 44.5 kilometres, commences at Ojoo in Ibadan and ends at Irepo Market in Oyo. Section II starts from Oyo and stops at Ogbomoso, while Section III is from Ogbomoso to Gerin-Alimi Roundabout in Ilorin.

But the Oyo-Ogbomoso axis is still dragging due to lack of fund

Several efforts were made by the people of Ogbomoso and Oyo town, including Federal lawmakers to persuade the Federal Government to complete the road

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr Sunday Dare tweeted a few minutes ago that the RETC had  been approved

“Today, FEC approved the Revised Estimated Total Cost, RETC, for the completion of the Oyo-Ogbomoso road. The inherited contract was started 10 years ago and has become a death trap killing many of our students .Many thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the funds”

Senator Buhari who spoke through his media office on the development commended the president for the approval. “We have been on this for some time now and thank God the fund has been approved. Very soon the project will be completed and the rate of carnage on the old road will be reduced”, he said.
