His Excellency, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Executive Governor of Niger State is by all standards a pragmatic leader who have clear understanding on what makes a great society. On assumption of office, he immediately adopted a three-pronged funding plan for the rehabilitation and reactivation of essential infrastructure in the state. These were direct budgetary funds allocation from state resources,
Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement and the N21.5 billion Sukuk Bond. The Sukuk Bond was to fund Minna township roads, Kontagora, General Hospital Suleja, trailer parks, and Kontagora water supply schemes. Others are Mariga Ultra-Modern Market and Mining City, with three mineral processing centres across the state.
Within the first 100 days, the government had completed the construction of laboratory building in Minna being used for testing construction materials. This formed the basis of Niger State’s solid infrastructural development.
The state government quickly rehabilitated Tegina road and Suleja – Abuja road in view of complaints registered by the people. Other roads currently being fixed by the State Government are Suleja – Minna road, Lapai – Lambata – Bida road, Bida – Lemu – Zungeru – Tegina road, Gidigori – Kagara – Mokwa road, Makera – Kontagora road, Kontagora – Yawuri road, Kontagora – Rijau road and Agaie – Baro road.
The State also embarked on the rehabilitation of the road from Obasanjo Shopping Complex to the Kure Modern Market; the Tegina-AP junction; the UK Bello-Sabongari Road, and the Lawu-Kikafa Road in Bosso. Other roads include the Piggery Road and the ones leading to Brighter School area, Sarkin Bosso, Tagwai-Dam, Dutsen-Kuran Gwari to Kpakungu, Gulu-Evuti-Ebbo, and Pandogari-Alawa- Gurmana road, Diko-Kabo Road, Wawa-Agwara Road, Enagi-Diko-Ketso Road, Kontagora-Bangi-Kotonkoro Road, Kampanin-Bobi-Kasuwan-Garba Road, Bangi-Gulbin Boka and Auna to Agwara Roads.
Public buildings have also received attention of Governor Bello’s Administration. The administration is renovating the old and new secretariat complexes and the state house of Assembly complex.
