Few years ago, AG-Dangote Construction Company entered the stage of road construction busness in Nigeria and it is already turning the sector 360%. AG Dangote is a civil construction company, and joint venture between Dangote Group and AG of Brazil.
With this approach, the Company has pioneered and kick started a paradigm shift to the use of durable and much stronger concrete pavements in the construction of roads in Nigeria. AG Dangote’s package also comes with a strategic funding mechanism that made it a lot easy for the Government. With a solutions driven commitment to infrastructure development in Nigeria, AG Dangote is steering Nigeria towards constructing durable roads because concrete pavements are cheaper than asphalt pavements in terms of lifecycle costs and they are highly durable and more environmentally friendly. The uniqueness of AG Dangote technology is that it utilises concrete slabs as against asphalt, common with road construction in this part of the world.
As a testimony to its commitment, AG Dangote has completed the novel concrete- paved 24 -kilometer Obajana-Kabba Road in Kogi State. The company has also completed the four-kilometer dual carriageway Apapa-Wharf concrete road and has flagged off the reconstruction of the Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonshoki-Ojota Expressway in Lagos State. This is the largest concrete road construction in West Africa.
At the flag off of the 32 kilometre Apapa – Oshodi – Oworonshoki – Ojota Concrete Road reconstruction in Lagos, the President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Aliko Dangote assured that the road project would restore hope and the economic power of the business hub of Apapa, Lagos. “This new concrete road, with a cost of N72 billion, is indeed a new dawn that will alleviate the sufferings of Nigeria, especially companies that have lost so much revenue as a result of the state of this Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonshoki- Ojota road.”
AG Dangote has successfully constructed concrete roads in Ibese, Ogun State and currently working on roads in Obajana, Kogi State and also in Benin City, Edo state.
