The Police Smartforce Database System has been reactivated, as stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun. This is a crucial step towards modernising policing and boosting internal security. This endeavour aligns with the force’s dedication to enhancing service delivery and incorporating state-of-the-art technologies to provide efficient law enforcement.
The IGP’s digitalization agenda aims to capture and store officer details for record-keeping purposes, streamline administrative procedures, enable efficient tracking of postings and transfers, and issue Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) cards for personnel identification. This is according to a statement released on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force by Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized the system’s integration with modern technology and state-of-the-art appliances, which will significantly reduce reliance on manual administrative methods. This action has the potential to completely transform the Nigeria Police Force’s administrative management, resulting in improved proficiency and efficient service delivery in all areas of policing.
In addition, the IGP restated his goal of having a technologically advanced police force that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen security protocols. He has directed the immediate commencement of the digitalization process across all Commands and Formations of the Force. This proactive approach ensures timely system upgrades and operational efficiency, marking a pivotal moment in the force’s digital transformation journey.
The IGP has called upon all officers to enroll for the digitalization process at their respective commands and formations nationwide. This directive underscores the importance of active participation and collaboration in embracing modern policing methodologies for the greater benefit of Nigeria’s security landscape.
